Hey folks,

I just confirmed the venue for the Rathole Radio event 2011 and obviously 20lb Sounds will be there representing. Our very first gig was at the RR event this year and in fact the band was formed for the event, so we owe a lot to it. Come to Liverpool at Easter and join us on Sunday 24th April 2011 at the Masque Theatre in town. It's an amazing venue and I'm really pleased.

We will be joined by the wonderful I Am Not Lefthanded who will also play the gig. I'm working on ticket details, prices and other artists to play. So who would you like to see? All suggestions for things you'd like to see and do on the night are welcome.

Let's make this event kick ass!

Not sure, did it create this second one without you meaning to? There are probably quite a few bugs to be found in this site yeah. It needs a lot of work. Maybe I should have a bug tracking thread.

No news on tickets yet I'm afraid. Haven't decided on pricing or other details but since we have 6 months I'll make sure they're available in plenty of time. I'm hoping early next month.

What do people think about the price? Is £5 reasonable? Same as last time. I'm trying to pitch it right. Turnout was weird on the last one. Lots of people who'd bought tickets didn't come. I'm wondering why. All ideas welcome.

Because there is a lot of love for you and I suspect people bought tickets to support the event thinking they was helping you. jontheniceguy explained to me that it was not just about tickets but about bar takings as well.

I think you ought to say (On RR, identi.ca etc) "I appreciate your support while buying a ticket knowing full well you will not be attending is a fantastic gesture on your part we actually need you to turn up as well and buy lots of beer which is part of the deal we do with the event vendors.

If you would like to support us but cannot attend why not 'sponsor a song' for the ticket value?" You could sort out a sort of commemorative, downloadable ticket (Fab could knock them out) one that's not acceptable on the door but they can stick on their wall or website "I sponsored the song *Jimmy Carter* at RatholeRadio 2011.

Wow that's a great idea, thanks. I'll put some thought into it. I know some people who bought tickets and didn't come were in town that night. Maybe that's it, they were just showing support. Odd that they made it all the way to Liverpool but not the last few yards to the venue. It did help massively to have people doing that though, I do appreciate all the support.

The deal is a little different this time so I don't think we need to worry as much. More money to the venue up front and less possible unknown costs afterwards. They'll obviously want people to buy beer so I'll have a think about the best way to do it.

A virtual ticket or sponsor a song is a top idea. I'm sure we can do something like that. If Dick_Turpin PLC doesn't sue us that is :D

As Philip and I  have previously said to you, we would be prepared to pay a bit more for the tickets (say £10-£15 each), especially if there will be several acts playing.  We are hoping to come - it will depend on whether Philip can get the Bank Holiday off of work!

Thanks Beccy, that's good to know. I don't want to up the price too much but maybe I'll do a vote and see what people think is fair. I might split the difference and make it cheaper to buy in advance than on the door. All ideas welcome. Hope you and Phil can make it, we'd love to see you. I know Easter can be a busy time for people but at least we have plenty of notice and planning time.

Thanks for signing up too, welcome to the 20lb Army! :)

I agree with Becky, make the tickets more in the range of a tenner. Im sure people will be happy to pay that.

Having them at a fiver may put people off by thinking that it is a little too much on the cheap side so it must be crap!

As for dick's idea Im sure if you research it you could claim prior art somewhere...just buy him an orange juice on the night if he starts to get antsy :D. I can see it on the night: "Right, this song has been bought to you by <insert random name> and they will be upset if no-one dances" or you could end up playing one song over and over due to sponsership!

Any thoughts of getting the word out that the roadshow is back?

As for the buying of extra tickets, Ill hold my hand up to that but only because the people purchased for had to pull out.

Oh, can we also ban yaMatt from the raffle :D

Excellent ideas. Perhaps I should make it £8 in advance £10 on the door then. I wanted to keep it cheaper to try and encourage more people but it might have the opposite effect as you say, people thinking it must be crap cos it's too cheap.

I like the sponsored song idea. I will be looking into that. There isn't any promotional material for the Roadshow at this stage as I wanted to get more artists on the line up first. It'll be coming soon, I'll do my best.

I would advise anyone thinking of coming to look at accomodation early. It is Easter and the city will be busy with holiday makers. I found 3 person rooms at the Travelodge in the middle of town for £32.50 last week. You can't complain at that but they won't last long.

Maybe I should start another thread for people to discuss travel and accomodation.
